Las válvulas de retención de resorte están diseñadas para evitar cambios en la dirección del flujo del fluido en la tubería. Su principio de funcionamiento es el siguiente: el bloqueo del flujo inverso del fluido se realiza presionando la junta blanda del obturador de la válvula contra su asiento, bajo la acción de un resorte y la presión del flujo inverso. La válvula se abre por la diferencia de presión en el flujo del fluido en la dirección deseada, mientras el obturador se mueve, comprimiendo el resorte.
