La válvula de compuerta está diseñada para ser instalada en la tubería como dispositivo de cierre y regular el flujo del medio en los sistemas de suministro de agua (excepto los sistemas de suministro de agua potable) y en la industria química.
El principio de funcionamiento de la válvula de compuerta consiste en mover la compuerta (cuchilla) perpendicularmente al flujo del medio. Cuando el diámetro nominal de la tubería está completamente bloqueado, el flujo se detiene, y cuando está parcialmente bloqueado, se ajusta.
El principio de funcionamiento del actuador neumático se basa en el movimiento del pistón incorporado debido al aire comprimido, que se suministra al sistema desde un compresor o tanque.
