Los termorreguladores están diseñados para la regulación automática de la temperatura (manteniendo la temperatura establecida por el usuario) en habitaciones equipadas con sistemas de calefacción por suelo radiante. Para medir la temperatura del aire en la habitación, se utiliza un sensor integrado que se basa en las propiedades de elementos bimetálicos o gases que cambian de forma o volumen bajo la influencia de la temperatura exterior. El principio de funcionamiento del termostato consiste en cerrar y abrir el circuito eléctrico al alcanzar la temperatura establecida.
